TONY FLOOD BRINGS OUT THE FOURTH NOVEL IN THE DCI LIVERMORE SERIES

Beggars Belief
Deadly Disguise and a Web of Lies

A gunman, disguised as a beggar, waits for financial wizard Timothy Marshall to leave his office, then kills him in cold blood.
At his side is his personal assistant, Vicky Appleby. Smart, determined, and just twenty-eight, she is devastated by the murder but resolves to help DCI Harvey Livermore track down the killer.
Suspects include: disgruntled clients, a furious husband, an ex-partner and an egotistical actor.
But did one of them pull the trigger, or did they hire someone else to do it?

At the May meeting, Tony Flood launched Beggars Belief. He is currently offering paperback copies to Anderida members at the reduced price of £5 – a saving of £3.

NEW FORMAT A GREAT SUCCESS

The new feedback format adopted at the May meeting of Anderida Writers at the Hydro Hotel, Eastbourne, was declared a great success by those who attended.

Further to discussion and input from members, the meeting focused on critiquing.

Those present were split into two groups, under the leadership of Tamara McKinley and Michael Fleming. Members in each group read out their work (extracts and poems up to 600 words) and received detailed feedback in an informal atmosphere.

After the break, the leaders spoke about the key issues and subjects that arose from the group sessions. Each member was also asked by chairman Tony Flood to tell the whole attendance how they benefited.

Members requested that the exercise be repeated at the June meeting, which is to be held on the third Wednesday of the month instead of the third Tuesday, due to availabilty of a suitable meeting room at the Hydro Hotel. This will also be the closing date for the annual Anderida Short Story and Poetry competition, details of which have been sent to members.

Full members will also receive a new email newsletter from Anderida's secretary Robert Crouch, containing guidance, information, and updates on creative writing and marketing. We hope this will become a regular feature for members during the year.

Change of date for the June meeting

Please note, the next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 17th June in the Wedgewood Suite at the Hydro Hotel.

Due to the popularity of the new style of critiquing at the May meeting, we will be repeating the format again.

The aim is to give those who wish to read out their work (up to 600 words) more helpful feedback.

Depending on the number of people attending, two or three small groups will be created. Each group will appoint someone to lead it.

After the break, the leaders will provide feedback on the key issues and subjects that arose from the group sessions. This will allow everyone to take part and benefit from the issues discussed.

The meeting in June will also be the closing date for entries to the Anderida Writers Annual Short Story and Poetry competition.

Actors Brian Capron and Susan Thacker are being invited to read out entries at the July meeting.
